The client
We worked for Konoike Construction Co. Ltd whom are the firm responsible for the delivery of the canoe slalom course for the games.
What we did
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (games organisers) wanted to provide the best whitewater available for the Tokyo 2020 games venue. Maximum flexible was the key to their design being successful. RapidBlocs’ established delivery record together with their hands on approach to ensuring interaction with design and construction teams proved an attractive package.
Amid intense competition the RapidBloc whitewater obstacle system was chosen for this prestigious venue. The RapidBloc system with continual evolution in shapes and form continues to deliver the very best whitewater with maximum flexibility throughout the entire whitewater channel. The canoe slalom course in Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward, is the first man-made slalom canoeing course in Japan. It is 200 meters long and 10 meters wide and was completed in 2019.
